Meira Epplein

Meira Epplein is Professor of Population Health Sciences at Duke University and Co-Leader of the Cancer Risk, Detection, and Interception program at the Duke Cancer Institute. She is a cancer epidemiologist who studies modifiable risk factors and health disparities. Specifically, her research seeks to further our understanding of the diversity of the bacteria Helicobacter pylori, host response to infection, and the association with gastrointestinal cancers. She is also engaged in local initiatives to understand the prevalence of H. pylori in the community and to move towards precision prevention of gastric cancer through targeted H. pylori eradication therapy.
