Matthew Dungan is a seasoned public health professional with expertise in epidemiology, data analysis, and program leadership. As a Public Health Specialist II for the State of Alaska, he leads statewide efforts to prevent substance misuse and addiction, overseeing grants, managing cross-functional teams, and advancing data-driven strategies that address Alaska's most pressing public health challenges. He holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Utah and a BS in Public Health with a statistics minor from Brigham Young University. His background spans public, nonprofit, and academic sectors, with specialized experience in addiction prevention, tobacco control, and overdose fatality reviews. In addition to his public health work, Matthew serves as a Lieutenant with Palmer Fire and Rescue. His work is grounded in the belief that research and data should drive real-world impact-and he is passionate about building sustainable, community-centered solutions that improve lives.
