Emily Nenon
American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network
Emily Nenon serves as the Alaska Government Relations Director for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), the advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society. In this role, she works to facilitate change in laws and policies at every level of government for cancer prevention and to improve access to health care. She's been doing this work for over 20 years. Ms. Nenon collaborates with health care providers, partner agencies, and statewide coalitions to improve patient access to cancer care locally and out of state, developing unique solutions such as Alaska's recently enacted telehealth law. She led the statewide effort to achieve, and now sustain, Alaska's smoke-free workplaces law. Working with Tribal Health Organizations and retiree groups, she lobbied for colorectal screening coverage by all Alaska insurance plans, including Medicaid. As a result, since 2023, all insured Alaskans have had this coverage. Ms. Nenon earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Washington, Evans School of Public Policy & Governance. She and her husband live on Dena'ina land (Anchorage, Alaska) where they enjoy all things winter and exploring their state.
